The renovation of 281 Concord Avenue is driven by the Owner’s desire to create a highly transparent sun-soaked professional working environment. The existing building built in 1926 housed the original Circle Furniture Location, and had declined significantly in both appearance and maintenance over the decades. OA’s design prioritized the gut renovation of the building’s interior, the replacement of the building’s street facade, and the expanding access to the building’s mezzanine level and courtyard.
281 Concord is designed to be flexible and responsive to a constantly changing co-working environment. Critical considerations such as workstation power and data were planned so that a broad range of future uses can be accommodated. Furnishings and finishes were selected to provide a neutral background that would allow for ‘fresh pops’ of color and decor to enliven the space over time.
